It was discovered that a 26-year-old man, later identified as Guadalupe Balderas, had been forcefully attempting to “kick open the door” of the targeted house.

Inside the residence, a 26-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man were present. The male resident valiantly tried to prevent Balderas from gaining entry. In a violent escalation, Balderas allegedly fired several rounds into the house, prompting the resident to defend himself by returning fire.

As a result of the altercation, Balderas sustained a gunshot wound to the stomach, while the resident was shot in the arm. The injured resident was immediately transported to a local hospital and was subsequently released shortly after receiving medical treatment.

Police have yet to determine the nature of Balderas’ relationship, if any, with the victims involved in the incident. However, it is worth noting that Balderas voluntarily admitted himself to a hospital, where staff members noticed his gunshot wound. Subsequently, he was arrested and taken into custody.

The charges brought against Balderas include attempted murder, attempted burglary, assault, felony menacing, and criminal mischief. Following his arrest, he was booked into the Weld County jail, situated in the vicinity of Greeley.
