U.S. Air Force Airman Nicholas Brown, 34, Found Dead off the Coast of Florida

Accident – Death – Obituary News : Nicholas Brown, a 34-year-old airman from the United States Air Force, tragically lost his life while off the coast of Florida. Brown was assigned to the 33rd Fighter Wing at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office (OCSO) issued an Aqua Alert on Facebook, seeking assistance in locating a distressed swimmer in the Gulf of Mexico. Brown, who was last seen at 4:30 p.m. one mile south of East Pass in Destin, was described as wearing a black wetsuit and a yellow snorkel.

Sadly, the OCSO confirmed on Saturday morning that Brown’s body had been found. According to the OCSO, his body was discovered in approximately 80 feet of water, around 50 feet away from the location where he was last seen. The circumstances surrounding his death are currently under investigation.

Brown, affectionately known as “Smog,” was engaged in free-diving when he went missing. Free-diving is a form of underwater diving that relies on breath-holding rather than scuba gear. A GoFundMe campaign has been created in his memory to support his family. The campaign describes Brown as a loving husband and super dad to his two young children. All proceeds from the campaign will directly benefit the Brown family.

In a press release issued by the 33rd Fighter Wing Public Affairs office, it was revealed that Brown served as an instructor pilot for the 58th Fighter Squadron at Eglin Air Force Base. Originally from Austin, Texas, Brown was a valued member of the 33rd Fighter Wing. U.S. Air Force Col. Dave Skalicky, the commander of the 33rd Fighter Wing, expressed his condolences and sympathies to Brown’s family, friends, and fellow Nomads (members of the 33rd Fighter Wing). Skalicky emphasized the importance of providing support and resources to those affected by this tragic loss.
