Rowan County Couple Found Dead in Apparent Murder-Suicide

A concerned neighbor called for help after witnessing a heated argument between a couple in Rowan County, North Carolina. Tragically, the altercation ended in an apparent murder-suicide, according to investigators.

The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office received a distress call regarding a domestic incident at a residence on Old Concord Road shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The concerned neighbor reported that the couple, identified as 54-year-old Joseph Benjamin Zickafoose and his wife, 51-year-old Melissa Kincaid Zickafoose, had retreated to their garage during the dispute. Unable to convince them to come out, the neighbor contacted the authorities for assistance.

Upon arrival, deputies forcibly entered the building and discovered the lifeless bodies of the couple, both victims of gunshot wounds.

The investigation into the tragic incident remains ongoing as the medical examiner conducts an autopsy and analyzes the evidence collected at the scene. The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office has not released any further information regarding the circumstances surrounding the murder-suicide.
