Man Arrested for Theft from Construction Site in Statesville

Reginald Anthony Glover, a 60-year-old resident of Statesville, was apprehended by Statesville Police Officers on Sunday (November 12). He now faces charges of felony larceny from a construction site and misdemeanor possession of stolen goods or property.

Police Officer’s Alertness Leads to Arrest

During Sunday night, a vigilant officer from the Statesville Police Department noticed a suspicious vehicle in the vicinity of Winston Avenue and 7th Street. The officer observed construction materials protruding from the vehicle’s window, raising concerns. The driver of the vehicle further aroused suspicion by abruptly stopping on Wilson Lee Boulevard, extinguishing the headlights, and abruptly exiting the vehicle.

Approaching the vehicle, the officer encountered Reginald Glover, who occupied the rear seat. Aware of an ongoing construction project nearby, the officers decided to inspect the new home under construction in the 1100 block of Wilson Lee Boulevard. During the investigation, they discovered a collection of brand-name construction materials, including vinyl siding, flashing, strips, and trim, which perfectly matched the items found in Glover’s vehicle.

Driver Assists Police Investigation

The driver of the vehicle fully cooperated with the officers, providing crucial information regarding the location where Glover had loaded the stolen construction materials. Consequently, Reginald Glover, as stated in a news release, admitted his guilt. Following this admission, he was promptly taken into custody and presented before a magistrate, who formally charged him. Due to the driver’s complete cooperation and Glover’s explicit statement absolving them of any involvement, no charges were filed against the driver.

Glover’s Incarceration and Court Date

Reginald Glover is currently detained at the Iredell County Detention Center under a secured bond of $30,000. As of earlier today (November 14), he remains in custody. A District Court hearing has been scheduled for December 5, where he will face the charges brought against him.
