Accident – Death – Obituary News : Manhunt Underway for 19-Year-Old Gunman in Texas Flea Market Shooting

PEARLAND, Texas – Law enforcement authorities in Texas are currently on the hunt for a 19-year-old gunman who is wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred at a popular flea market, resulting in the death of a 10-year-old boy and the injury of four others.

The incident took place at Cole’s Flea Market in Pearland on Sunday. According to reports, the suspect has been identified as 19-year-old David Negrete, and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. Police have described Negrete as armed and dangerous.

The shooting occurred at around 5:34 P.M. when police were dispatched to the flea market in response to shots fired. Five individuals were found suffering from gunshot wounds, including a 10-year-old Hispanic male, a 14-year-old Hispanic female, a 37-year-old Hispanic male, a 16-year-old Hispanic male, and an 18-year-old Hispanic male who was later identified as a suspect. All victims were transported to a nearby hospital, where the 10-year-old victim tragically succumbed to his injuries. As of Tuesday, his name has not been released.

The incident has been described as extremely tragic by Officer Chad Rogers of the Pearland Police Department. He stated, “Tragic for the City of Pearland. Tragic for Cole’s Flea Market. Tragic for all the families that attend that flea market.”

Investigations have revealed that the shooting occurred after an argument between two strangers escalated into gunfire. At least two armed suspects were involved in the altercation, and it is believed that Negrete is one of the shooters. The exact motive behind the argument remains unknown.

In connection with the shooting, police have also arrested two 18-year-olds, Juliana Espiono and Cruz Mesa, on charges of tampering with physical evidence and making a false statement to a peace officer. Mesa was among the individuals who were shot at the flea market. Both Espiono and Mesa are currently in stable condition, while the 16-year-old victim underwent surgery. The adult male victim has been treated and released.

Authorities have issued an arrest warrant for Negrete, charging him with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. It remains unclear whether the charge will be upgraded following the death of the 10-year-old victim.

Cole’s Flea Market is a popular spot in Pearland, with over 1,000 vendors and an average of 12,000 to 15,000 customers visiting every weekend. It is considered the oldest and largest flea market in the city.

In response to the tragic incident, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has announced a $15,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of the suspects. He expressed his condolences for the loss of the innocent child and extended his support to the other victims, wishing them a speedy recovery. Abbott also pledged the state’s full support to local law enforcement in bringing the perpetrators to justice.

As the manhunt for Negrete continues, authorities are urging anyone with information about his whereabouts to come forward and assist in the investigation.
