Joseph Benjamin Zickafoose and Melissa Kincaid Zickafoose: Victims of Apparent Murder-Suicide Investigation

SALISBURY — Authorities from the Rowan County Sheriff’s Office are currently conducting an investigation into what appears to be a tragic murder-suicide incident.

Deputies were called to a residence located in the 8900 block of Old Concord Road at approximately 6:30 pm on Monday evening after receiving reports of a domestic dispute. A concerned witness, unable to persuade the inhabitants of the house to leave the garage, contacted the authorities, prompting their arrival at the scene, as confirmed by an official statement from the sheriff’s office.

Upon entering the property, law enforcement officers discovered the lifeless bodies of the two residents, both of whom had suffered fatal gunshot wounds. The deceased individuals have been identified as Joseph Benjamin Zickafoose, aged 54, and his wife, Melissa Kincaid Zickafoose, aged 51.

According to the released statement, the investigation remains ongoing, pending a thorough examination of the evidence gathered from the crime scene, as well as the final conclusions of the medical examiner’s report.
