The thefts occurred on October 28 as the Colorado Buffaloes played against the UCLA Bruins in Pasadena. After losing the game with a score of 28-16, at least five players discovered that their valuables, including gold and diamond chains, had been stolen.

While authorities in Pasadena confirmed that the suspects are from Beaumont High School, they did not confirm the media reports claiming that they were four “recruits on an official visit to UCLA for the game.” The Beaumont Unified School District declined to provide further information about the number of students involved or whether they were on an official visit to the university.

In response to the incident, the Beaumont Unified School District released a statement expressing disappointment and disheartenment. They stated that the alleged actions of the students do not represent the school’s core values and that they strive to promote strong character and integrity. Although the students were not attending the UCLA-Colorado football game as part of a school-sponsored event, the district is fully cooperating with the Pasadena Police Department’s investigation.

According to the Pasadena Star-News, some of the stolen items have already been returned. The parents of the students suspected in the thefts have reportedly mailed back some of the stolen items.

The incident has raised concerns about the security measures in place during sporting events and the need for increased vigilance to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.

The University of Colorado football team and the Rose Bowl organizers are also reviewing their security protocols to ensure the safety of players and their belongings during games. The incident serves as a reminder for athletes and sports organizations to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to protect their possessions.

It is essential for schools and communities to address incidents like this promptly and take appropriate actions to promote responsibility and accountability among students. The Beaumont Unified School District’s cooperation with the investigation demonstrates their commitment to upholding their core values and maintaining a safe and secure environment for their students.

As the investigation unfolds, it is crucial for all parties involved to cooperate fully and ensure that justice is served. The incident at the Rose Bowl serves as a reminder that theft can happen anywhere, and it is essential to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to protect personal belongings..
