According to authorities, deputies received reports of a car burglary in the Preservation Pointe neighborhood off County Road 547 at approximately 3:28 a.m. Upon arriving at the scene, witnesses reported seeing a man and a woman attempting to break into multiple vehicles in the area. The suspects were seen fleeing in a white 2006 Cadillac CTS, heading towards the only exit out of the neighborhood.

A deputy attempted to pull over the white sedan, but the vehicle abruptly sped off into the neighborhood. The deputy refrained from pursuing the suspects due to the limited access points in the area. However, as the suspects attempted to find an alternative way out, the white sedan allegedly sped past deputies before abruptly crashing into a park and an unoccupied car.

Following the crash, law enforcement officers removed the two suspects from the vehicle. The individuals were identified as 37-year-old Timothy Hogue of Apopka and 31-year-old Rebecca Kozub of Ocoee. Both suspects were detained, and emergency medical services were called to the scene to treat their injuries. Hogue and Kozub were subsequently transported to a local hospital for further medical attention.

Sheriff Grady Judd expressed his concerns over the suspects’ reckless actions, stating, “Fleeing from a law enforcement traffic stop demonstrates very poor decision making, but to do it in a small, residential neighborhood at a high rate of speed is a terrible idea, and dangerous. It’s amazing and fortunate that nobody innocent was hurt or killed. They could have very easily crashed into a house.”

Hogue, who has a tattoo on his neck that reads ‘All gas, no brakes,’ was later arrested and charged with multiple offenses, including burglary of an unoccupied conveyance, felony petit theft, fleeing to elude, conspiracy to commit burglary, possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and resisting without violence.

Kozub, who sustained a fractured leg in the crash, is currently receiving medical treatment at the hospital. Charges against her are pending at this time.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office revealed that Hogue has an extensive criminal history, with 31 felonies and 18 misdemeanors to his name. Similarly, Kozub has accumulated 19 felonies and 20 misdemeanors throughout her past interactions with the law.

The incident serves as a reminder of the dangers associated with evading law enforcement, especially in a residential neighborhood. The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to local authorities.

As the investigation continues, the sheriff’s office is working diligently to determine if the arrested individuals are connected to any additional crimes in the area..
