72-Year-Old Homeless Man Found Dead Behind Abandoned Restaurant in Cornelia

Accident – Death – Obituary News : Cornelia police have announced that no foul play is suspected in the death of a 72-year-old homeless man, identified as James Roy Cantrell. His lifeless body was discovered late Monday night behind an abandoned restaurant in Cornelia. Police officers had been investigating a suspicious truck parked behind the old Wolf Creek BBQ on North Main Street.

Chief Jonathan Roberts of the Cornelia Police Department stated that officers noticed the white Dodge Ram pickup truck and grew concerned that someone might be attempting to steal from the nearby Mountain Automotive. Upon inspecting the area, the officers did not find any signs of disturbance. However, their knowledge of the location led them to the spot where Cantrell was known to occasionally sleep.
