The victim, identified as Ram Ji, hailed from Saadabad in the Unnao district of Uttar Pradesh and was residing in a rented accommodation near Kali Mata Mandir, Peer Muchhalla, Zirakpur.

According to a complaint filed by the victim’s friend, Dev Kumar, the duo was returning home on a motorcycle from Kurukshetra when the unfortunate incident took place. As they reached ITI Chowk, a Mahindra Bolero pick-up truck suddenly overtook them, positioning itself ahead of their bike. Before Ram Ji could react, the truck abruptly applied brakes, resulting in a devastating collision.

Tragically, the pick-up truck driver fled the scene immediately, leaving Ram Ji with severe injuries. Miraculously, Kumar managed to escape unscathed. Ram Ji was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital in Sector 32, Chandigarh. However, despite the medical team’s efforts, they declared him brought dead.

In the wake of this tragic accident, the Lalru police have registered a case against the unknown pick-up truck driver under Sections 279 (rash driving) and 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code. The authorities are currently conducting an investigation to locate and apprehend the absconding driver responsible for this fatal collision.

Following the completion of the post-mortem examination, Ram Ji’s body was handed over to his grieving family. The loss of a young life has left them devastated, and they are seeking justice for their loved one.
