The incident took place on Sunday evening at the Martin Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Center on Lincoln Blvd. Responding to the scene, Miami Police officers spotted a woman who matched the given description walking away from the church. She was promptly detained as part of their ongoing investigation.

According to one witness, the woman was seen picking up bricks and launching them at various windows of the church. This act of vandalism resulted in approximately $10,000 in damages. Additionally, it was reported that two women were involved in a physical altercation outside the church.

Rev. Dr. Anthony Reed expressed his dismay at the incident, stating, “Two young ladies who were having an altercation decided to take out all of their anger on the church.” The aftermath of the attack was captured on cellphone video, revealing the mess left behind by the vandals. The damage to the church, which included stained glass windows, was evident in the daylight.

Windows were dislodged and pushed out of their frames, prompting a call to the police. Shortly after, one woman was arrested a short distance from the church. Reed expressed his profound disappointment, emphasizing, “It hurts, it hurts… It’s devastating to know that in this day and time, people would vandalize the church.”
