The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has confirmed the identity of the victim involved in a tragic homicide that occurred last Friday. The victim has been identified as 36-year-old Brandon Kmetetz, a resident of West Palm Beach, Florida. In a significant development, a suspect has been apprehended and taken into custody.

The incident took place in the early hours of Friday, November 10, when the CSPD received a call regarding an unknown medical situation involving an adult male in the 400 block of N. Murray Blvd. Upon arrival, officers and medical personnel were confronted with a fatal gunshot wound, leading them to declare the victim deceased.

Through diligent investigation, CSPD detectives identified the suspect as 27-year-old Ontony Hatcher, a resident of Colorado Springs. A warrant for his arrest was promptly obtained, and Hatcher voluntarily surrendered himself to authorities on November 11. He now faces charges of first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and aggravated robbery.

Brandon Kmetetz’s tragic death marks the 28th homicide in Colorado Springs this year. It is worth noting that during the same period last year, the city had experienced 42 homicides, indicating a decline in such incidents.
