PULLMAN- Avista provided an update today, Friday, Nov. 10, regarding restoring natural gas services to an estimated 37,000 natural gas customers in the Pullman Moscow Region and Lewiston Clarkston Region. Senior Communications Manager for Avista, Sarah Sidwell, stated that progress has been made in repairing the damaged natural gas pipeline, and they expect to have service restored to all customers by early next week.

The natural gas outage began on Tuesday, Nov. 7, when a construction crew accidentally hit a natural gas pipeline, causing a major leak. As a safety precaution, Avista shut off natural gas service to the affected regions until the leak could be repaired.

Avista has been working around the clock to repair the damaged pipeline and restore service to customers as quickly as possible. The company has brought in additional crews and resources to assist with the repairs, and they are working diligently to ensure the safety and well-being of their customers.

In the meantime, Avista is providing temporary heating solutions for affected customers, including space heaters and electric blankets. They have also set up warming centers in the community where customers can go to stay warm during the outage.

Avista is urging customers to continue to conserve energy during the outage by turning down thermostats, closing off unused rooms, and using blankets and layers to stay warm. They are also reminding customers to never use portable generators or other fuel-burning devices inside their homes, as this can lead to carbon monoxide poisoning.

Customers who are experiencing any issues or have questions about the outage can contact Avista’s customer service line at 1-800-227-9187.

Avista is deeply sorry for the inconvenience and disruption this outage has caused to their customers, and they appreciate the community’s patience and understanding during this time. They are committed to resolving the issue as quickly as possible and restoring natural gas service to all affected customers.
