SHADY SIDE, Md. – Two young men tragically lost their lives in a fatal collision that occurred on Sunday morning.

The devastating incident took place on November 12, 2023, at approximately 11:10 a.m. at the intersection of Shady Side Road and Deep Cove Road in Shady Side, Maryland.

According to the Anne Arundel County Police Department (AACPD), a 2022 Toyota Rav4 was traveling eastbound on Shady Side Road when it suddenly veered off the right side of the road. The vehicle crashed through a fence and collided with a Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE) pole after entering a drainage ditch.

The driver of the vehicle has been identified as 24-year-old Jason Jose Solano, a resident of Rockville, Maryland. The passenger, identified as 27-year-old Christian Alvarado from Lanham, Maryland, was also in the vehicle. Unfortunately, both young men were pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident.

The cause of the fatal crash is currently under investigation by the AACPD Traffic Safety Section. Authorities are examining various factors, including the condition of the road, any mechanical issues with the vehicle, and the possibility of driver error.
