Accident – Death – Obituary News : Delaware Man Arrested for Reckless Endangerment and Vehicular Assault

Frankford, Delaware – In a shocking incident that unfolded on Saturday morning, the Delaware State Police apprehended Moises Espinoza-Saldivar, a 40-year-old resident of Selbyville, Delaware. Espinoza-Saldivar faces charges of felony reckless endangering and additional criminal charges following a vehicular assault that took place in Frankford.

Authorities reported that on November 11, 2023, at approximately 9:44 a.m., troopers were dispatched to a residence located on the 35300 block of Cape Lane in response to a report of a man being struck by a white work van. Upon arrival, law enforcement swiftly took Moises Espinoza-Saldivar into custody without any resistance. As the investigation unfolded, troopers discovered that Espinoza-Saldivar had confronted his ex-wife after observing her engaging in conversation with construction workers outside her home.

During the altercation, Espinoza-Saldivar forcefully knocked a drink out of his ex-wife’s hands before retreating to his van. Shockingly, he then accelerated towards the three construction workers who were standing near the deck. In a desperate attempt to evade the speeding van, the workers leaped out of harm’s way, but tragically, one of them was struck and pinned against the deck.

The injured construction worker, a 44-year-old man, was immediately airlifted by Trooper 2 to a nearby trauma hospital to receive treatment for severe injuries. Fortunately, no other injuries were reported in the incident. Disturbingly, two children were present on the deck when the incident occurred, while two more children rushed outside upon hearing the commotion. While taking Espinoza-Saldivar into custody, troopers noticed signs of impairment and detected an odour of alcohol emanating from his breath. Additionally, a small bottle of whiskey was discovered in Espinoza-Saldivar’s jacket pocket during a search incident to arrest.

Following his arrest, Moises Espinoza-Saldivar appeared before Justice of the Peace Court 3, where he faced multiple charges. These charges included Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony, categorized as a felony offense; four counts of Reckless Endangering First Degree, also classified as felonies; Vehicular Assault Second Degree; three counts of Endangering the Welfare of a Child; Driving a Vehicle Under the Influence; Driving While Revoked; and Offensive Touching. Due to the severity of the charges, the court set bail at a substantial amount of $88,300 cash bond.
