Investigation Underway into Fatal Stabbing in Independence, Missouri

KANSAS CITY — Law enforcement authorities are currently conducting an investigation into a deadly stabbing incident that has left one person dead. Local authorities are seeking the assistance of the public in locating the suspect.

According to a media release, a concerned citizen brought an individual to Fire Station #3 in Independence, Missouri, just before 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. The individual had apparent stab wounds and required immediate medical attention. Tragically, despite the efforts of the fire department personnel, the victim succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation has revealed that the stabbing took place in the vicinity of Truman Road and Hardy Avenue. Authorities have identified a person of interest in connection with the incident, 34-year-old Anthony J. Durkin.

Anthony J. Durkin is described as a white male, standing at 5-foot-10 and weighing approximately 155 pounds. He has brown hair, brown eyes, and distinctive tattoos; one reading “RESPETO” on the right side of his neck and another depicting “Scooby Doo” on his right arm. It is important to note that Durkin is believed to be homeless and is known to frequent the area of 24 Highway and Sterling Avenue.

Authorities are urging the public not to approach Durkin if he is located, but instead to immediately contact 911 for assistance.
