The distressing incident unfolded on May 15, 2022, when the landlord lost control after his advances towards Comfort Nwagadi were rejected. Enraged, he inflicted multiple machete wounds on her, leaving her severely injured. In a bid to protect his wife, Nwagadi’s husband also fell victim to the brutal attack, sustaining machete cuts himself.

Immediately after the assault, the landlord fled the scene, evading capture for a considerable period. However, after relentless pursuit, the police succeeded in apprehending Alabo on Sunday.

Nwagadi confirmed the suspect’s arrest in a voice message sent to our correspondent on Monday. She recounted the traumatic incident, expressing her gratitude for the apprehension of her attacker. “That day, he also attacked my husband when he tried to intervene. Alabo cut him with the machete too and fled that night. Since then, he has been on the run. But yesterday, the Azikiwe Police Station informed us that they have arrested him. Now that he has been apprehended, my only desire is to see justice served,” she stated.

According to PUNCH Online, the case file was transferred from the Azikiwe Police Division to the State Criminal Investigation And Intelligence Department Unit of the command, following the directive of the former Commissioner of Police. This move indicates the seriousness with which the authorities are treating the incident.
