Large Quantity of Explosives Recovered in Assam’s Cachar District, Nazim Uddin Apprehended

Accident – Death – Obituary News : Cachar (Assam), India, November 13 (ANI): A significant recovery of explosives was made by the police and CRPF in a joint operation in Assam’s Cachar district on Monday. A person was also apprehended during the operation.

Superintendent of Police of Cachar district, Numal Mahatta, stated that the operation was conducted based on secret information received by the police. A team comprising the Cachar district police and 147 Bn CRPF launched the joint operation at Silchar Kalain Road under Kalain police station. During the operation, a person was apprehended.

The security personnel recovered a large quantity of explosives, including 97 detonators and 96 fuses, concealed in a bag found in the possession of the apprehended person. The individual was identified as Nazim Uddin, a 22-year-old resident of Sundaura village under Kalain police station in Cachar district.

In a separate incident on November 12, during a routine checking at the Gumrah police outpost, the police detained and seized two vehicles – a truck and an SUV pickup vehicle. The truck was found to be carrying one tonne of Burmese supari, while the SUV pickup vehicle had 20 bags of the same substance. The SP of Cachar district confirmed that one person has been apprehended in connection with this case. The police are initiating necessary lawful action.

This recovery comes just days after the Assam Police seized a large quantity of Burmese supari (areca nut) and apprehended two individuals in Hailakandi district on November 10. The police conducted a search operation at the house of 28-year-old Saydul Islam Barbhuiya in the Pachim Kitterbond Part 1 area based on a source tip-off. During the search, they found and seized 12 sacks of illegal Burmese supari, weighing approximately 480 kg, along with a vehicle. Two individuals, Abul Kalam (48) from Karimganj district and Saydul Islam Barbhuiya (28), were apprehended in connection with the case.
