The investigation into Koubidina began when police were called to respond to a report of a man throwing a sparkler at a vehicle on the night of October 30. The driver of the car informed the police that she had seen a man throw the firework onto her car’s hood as she was driving along the 2400 block of South Queen Street in York at 10:22 p.m. Fortunately, the vehicle was not damaged, but the victim witnessed the suspect fleeing between two houses on the block.

As the responding officer was taking the report, they witnessed another individual in a black hooded sweatshirt throwing a large firework into the middle of South Queen Street. The police gave chase, but the suspect managed to escape. The suspect was last seen running in the area of South Queen and Cherry Streets, according to the authorities.

Following the incident, the police conducted a search of the area. One officer hid behind a bush near a home on the 300 block of Cherry Street while other officers scoured the vicinity for the suspect. Shortly after, a man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, identified as Zachary Reider, emerged from the rear of the house. Reider informed the police that he and his friend, Jordel Koubidina, had been sitting at a bonfire behind the residence earlier that evening.

Investigators then visited Koubidina’s home, where he allegedly admitted that Reider was the one who threw the firework at the vehicle. Koubidina claimed to have video footage of the incident on his phone, which he showed to the police. When confronted with the existence of the video, Reider confessed to throwing the firework. Subsequently, the police obtained a search warrant to seize Koubidina’s phone as evidence for their investigation.

During a forensic examination of the phone, authorities discovered multiple videos of child pornography saved on the device. As a result, Koubidina now faces charges related to possession of child pornography. It is unclear what charges, if any, Reider will face in connection with the fireworks incident.

The arrest of Koubidina for possession of child pornography highlights the importance of thorough investigations. The initial report of a firework being thrown at a moving car led the police to uncover a much more serious crime. The case serves as a reminder of the need for law enforcement agencies to pursue all leads diligently and utilize technology to aid in their investigations.
