A tragic discovery was made last week when the body of a woman was found floating in a pond in New Stanton, Westmoreland County. The body was found off Broadview Road at approximately 12:30 p.m. on November 6. Townsend’s family was notified by investigators last week, but authorities at the coroner’s office took their time to ensure they had the correct identity before releasing it to the public, Carson explained. In an effort to confirm her identity, fingerprints were unsuccessfully attempted to be obtained, and deputy Sean Hribal examined medical records, tattoos on her body, as well as compared her teeth to photographs. Additionally, the jewelry Townsend was wearing at the time was taken into consideration. However, the official cause and manner of her death will be determined pending toxicology results.

Carson believes that Townsend’s body may have been in the pond for several months before it was discovered. As a result, the Pennsylvania State Police are now conducting an investigation to gather more information and shed light on the circumstances surrounding her death.

The identification of Kele Diane Townsend brings some closure to her grieving family, but many questions still remain unanswered. The community is left wondering how and why she ended up in the pond, and what events unfolded in the months leading up to her tragic fate.

It is important for the public to remain patient as investigators work diligently to uncover the truth. Any information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, could provide crucial leads in this ongoing investigation. Anyone with information related to this case is urged to contact the Pennsylvania State Police immediately.
