Mount Pleasant Twp Witnesses Two-Vehicle Crash

State police at Greensburg are currently investigating a two-vehicle crash that occurred on November 4th at 6:48 p.m. The incident took place on Clay Pike at its intersection with Austin Boulevard in Mount Pleasant Township, Pennsylvania.

According to the police report, the first vehicle involved was a 2021 Ford EcoSport driven by 18-year-old Helena L. Rimel from White. The second vehicle was a 2023 Chevrolet CK1500 operated by 68-year-old Galen W. Kalp from Acme. The collision unfolded as the Ford EcoSport was traveling south on Clay Pike, approaching the intersection with Austin Boulevard. Meanwhile, the Chevrolet CK1500 was also traveling south on Clay Pike, but it had already come to a stop at the intersection, with its left turn signal on, waiting to make a left turn onto Austin Boulevard.

Unfortunately, Rimel failed to notice the stopped Chevrolet CK1500 and collided with its rear end. As a result, the Ford EcoSport sustained significant front-end damage and had to be towed from the scene by a private tow truck. Kalp, the driver of the Chevrolet CK1500, suffered minor whiplash injuries. He was subsequently transported to Independence Health System Latrobe Hospital by the Mutual Aid Ambulance Service for evaluation and medical care. Rimel was cited at the scene for driving too fast for the road conditions.

State police at Greensburg recently discovered a DUI case involving 39-year-old Justin Henry from New Stanton. The incident occurred on October 28th at 11:44 p.m. Henry reportedly abandoned his 2014 Ram truck in the yard of 285 Arona Road, New Stanton.

Vehicle Damaged in Donegal Twp Collision

A one-vehicle crash took place in Donegal Township on October 31st at 4:34 a.m., according to the state police at Greensburg. The driver involved was 21-year-old David H. Welch from Berlin, who was operating a 2014 Ford Taurus. Welch’s vehicle collided with a deer that was crossing state Route 31. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

No Injuries in Hempfield Township Collision

State police at Greensburg responded to a two-vehicle crash that occurred on November 9th at 1:20 p.m. The incident took place on U.S. Route 30, just east of Beaver Road, in Hempfield Township. The vehicles involved were a 2016 Subaru Legacy and a 2009 Cadillac. The report did not identify the drivers.

The collision occurred when the driver of the Subaru attempted to make a left turn from Route 30 east into the AutoZone auto parts parking lot. However, the driver failed to yield the right of way to the Cadillac, which was traveling west on Route 30. Consequently, the front left portion of the Subaru struck the front left quarter panel of the Cadillac, resulting in moderate damage to both vehicles. However, both drivers were fortunate to escape without any injuries. Both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene.

Investigation Launched into Mall Theft

State police at Greensburg have initiated an investigation into a retail theft that occurred on September 26th at 7:24 p.m. The incident took place at Buckle, a store located inside Westmoreland Mall in Hempfield Township. The store manager informed the police that two individuals entered the store and left without paying for seven pieces of clothing. The suspects were described as a white male with dark hair and a slim build, and a white female with red hair and a short, slim build.

$20 Bill Handed in at Customer Service

A case of mislaid property was reported at Walmart in the Summit Ridge Plaza, East Huntingdon Township, on November 9th at 10:48 a.m. According to the police report, a 27-year-old Mount Pleasant male took a $20 bill from a self-checkout kiosk after it was left behind by a 76-year-old Tarrs female. Fortunately, the male promptly returned the bill to the store’s customer service department.

DUI Checkpoint Scheduled by PSP

In an ongoing effort to reduce the incidents of injuries and fatalities caused by impaired drivers, PSP Greensburg has announced that a sobriety checkpoint will be conducted in Westmoreland County between Wednesday, November 22nd, and Sunday, November 26th. Additionally, roving enforcement patrols will be carried out throughout the month.

Disturbance Investigated in Sewickley Township

State police at Greensburg responded to a disturbance that occurred on November 9th at 8:21 a.m. at a residence on Penrose Drive in Sewickley Township. Upon arrival, the police discovered that a verbal argument had taken place between 31-year-old Dillon Kee and a female individual. During the investigation, Kee was found to be highly intoxicated outside his residence. Despite repeated warnings to cease his actions, Kee continued to use vulgar and racist language, causing public annoyance or alarm. Charges will be filed against Kee in Magisterial District Court. The victims listed in the report include a 58-year-old Homestead male, a 31-year-old Irwin female, and a 77-year-old North Huntingdon female.

Alleged Indecent Exposure in New Stanton

State police at Greensburg are currently investigating allegations of indecent exposure that reportedly occurred on November 9th at approximately 11:45 a.m. The incident took place at a location on West Pennsylvania Avenue in New Stanton. According to the police report, a 55-year-old male from New Stanton unlawfully exposed his genitals to a 27-year-old female from Hunker.

Burglary Attempt Foiled in Hempfield Twp

State police at Greensburg responded to an alleged burglary attempt on November 11th at 9:10 a.m. The incident occurred at a residence on Prisani Street in Hempfield Township. Upon arrival, the troopers made contact with a male juvenile, who was later transported to Independence Health System Latrobe Hospital. However, the victim, a 52-year-old male from Hempfield Township, refused to proceed with the prosecution. The incident resulted in damage to an exterior window screen valued at $275 and a computer system valued at $500.
