Authorities in Cornelia received reports of a burglary at a residence on Skyland Drive on Sunday. Upon investigation, officers discovered footage capturing a man attempting to gain entry into the house.

While investigating the incident, law enforcement officers initiated a traffic stop on a truck leaving the area. The driver of the truck, later identified as 46-year-old Joshua Adam Doster, failed to comply with the stop and a pursuit ensued.

According to Cornelia Police Chief Jonathan Roberts, Doster drove recklessly through side roads within the city limits, leading multiple law enforcement agencies on a high-speed chase that extended into Banks County.

The pursuit came to an end when an Alto police officer executed a PIT maneuver, causing the truck to overturn on Wofford Creek Road. Despite the rollover, the truck eventually came to a stop on its wheels, allowing officers to apprehend Doster.

Besides the burglary on Skyland Drive, investigators believe that Doster is also responsible for breaking into a residence on Foster Street and at least six vehicles on South Quail Trail, which is located just off Old Cleveland Road.

Habersham County Sheriff’s Investigator George Cason revealed, “We discovered items that had been ejected from the truck while it was rolling down the road, and those items were determined to belong to our initial victim on South Quail Trail. Additionally, we found a significant quantity of suspected marijuana along with drug-related paraphernalia, such as syringes and cap syringes, scattered throughout the road.”

Doster has been charged by the sheriff’s office with second-degree burglary, six counts of entering auto, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug-related objects. Additional charges by the Cornelia police are still pending.
