Two Arrested on Weapons and Narcotics Charges in Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Ind. – Two individuals have been arrested by Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies on charges related to weapons and narcotics. The arrests occurred on Friday morning following a report of a suspicious person in the 300 block of Fifth Street in Elizabethtown.

According to the Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to the call at approximately 3:41 a.m. The caller informed the authorities that a male had approached them in the driveway of their home. During the encounter, the male suspect, identified as Joshua Woodruff, 46, from Elizabethtown, brandished a handgun and demanded that the victim open the trunk of a nearby vehicle.

After the incident, Woodruff left the victim’s property and made his way to his residence, which was located a short distance away. Sergeant Dane Duke, spokesperson for the sheriff’s department, revealed that Woodruff believed the victim had stolen from him and that the items were stored in the trunk.

While investigating the incident, deputies were confronted by Woodruff, who began shouting at them. Woodruff was swiftly apprehended, leading to the issuance of a search warrant for his residence. The subsequent search yielded the discovery of seven firearms, an unspecified amount of methamphetamine, and narcotics paraphernalia. As a result, Nicole Woodruff, 38, also from Elizabethtown and the other homeowner, was taken into custody.

Joshua Woodruff has been remanded to the Bartholomew County Jail, where he faces charges of intimidation with a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony, possession of methamphetamine, a Level 4 felony, and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor.

Nicole Woodruff

Nicole Woodruff, who was also found at the residence, has been booked into the Bartholomew County Jail. She faces charges of possession of methamphetamine, a Level 4 felony, and possession of paraphernalia, a Class C misdemeanor. However, she has since been released.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, with authorities continuing their efforts to gather more information and evidence related to the case.
