The Rialto Police Department Communications Center received distressing reports of a vehicle versus motorcycle collision at approximately 12:17 p.m. Promptly responding to the distress call, officers, accompanied by Rialto Fire Department Paramedics, swiftly arrived at the scene. Tragically, the motorcyclist was found to have sustained life-threatening injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene at 12:23 p.m.

The driver of the involved black Nissan Maxima, a 36-year-old resident of Fontana identified as Haloman Tellez-Zelaya, remained at the scene and emerged unharmed, according to the police. To thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision, the Rialto Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) was immediately deployed.

Preliminary findings from the ongoing investigation indicate that the motorcyclist was travelling westbound in the #1 lane of Foothill Boulevard, approaching a green light at Shopping Center Drive. Meanwhile, Tellez-Zelaya, travelling eastbound, entered the designated left turn lane and executed a u-turn in front of the motorcyclist, resulting in the devastating collision, as stated by the police.

Further examination during the investigation revealed that Tellez-Zelaya was driving without a license. Astonishingly, he had received a citation for the same offense just the week prior, according to the police. The investigators heavily relied on both witnesses’ accounts and physical evidence found at the scene to corroborate their preliminary findings. Notably, there is no indication of impairment being a contributing factor in the collision.
