Accident – Death – Obituary News : Police Seize Suspected Shabu Worth Almost P3 Million in Cebu City

In a successful anti-illegal drug operation, authorities apprehended a drug suspect and confiscated suspected shabu with an estimated value of nearly P3 million. The buy-bust operation took place inside the Ludo-Chinese cemetery in Barangay Carreta, Cebu City, at 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 12, 2023.

The Mambaling Police Station, led by Major Jonathan Beethoven Taneo, spearheaded the operation that resulted in the arrest of Alvin Ylaya, also known as Odot, an 18-year-old high-value individual residing within the Chinese cemetery. The authorities seized 405 grams of suspected shabu, which has a standard drug price of around P2,754,000.

Deputy City Director for Operations of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), Police Lieutenant Colonel Janette Rafter, revealed that Ylaya has a history of involvement in drug-related offenses and has spent time in prison before. Additionally, Ylaya’s elder brother is currently incarcerated at the Cebu City Jail for drug peddling.

Rafter stated, “He was only 17 years old when he was first arrested for drugs. He was arrested again for violating Section 5 of Republic Act 9165, and the last arrest was yesterday, where we recovered 400 plus grams of illegal drugs from him. We also arrested his brother, a high-value individual, in March 2023, and he is currently being held in the city jail.”

The following day, Monday at 3 a.m., another anti-illegal drug operation conducted by the City Intelligence Unit of the Cebu City Police Office, under the supervision of Mambaling Police Station Chief Police Major Jonathan Beethoven Taneo, led to the apprehension of a 31-year-old unemployed man. The suspect, Renan Talledo Pardo, was found in possession of 1,220 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated value of P6,949,000. Pardo hails from Sitio Lower San Roque in Barangay Bulacao and is in a live-in partnership.
