Accident – Death – Obituary News :

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti — A notorious gang leader in Haiti, who was once a math and physics teacher, has been reported killed in the Belekou community within the Cite Soleil slum. Iskar Andrice, also known as Iscar Andris, ruled over this neighborhood for years, controlling it with an iron fist. Local media reports suggest that his death could lead to a spike in gang violence in an already volatile situation.

Former mayor Esaïe Beauchard expressed regret over Andrice’s involvement in gang activity, considering him to be a highly intelligent man. The exact date of his death has not been confirmed at this time. The current mayor of Cite Soleil, Jean-Frédérique Islain, declined to comment on the matter.

Andrice led a gang involved in various criminal activities, including murder, robbery, extortion, rape, and hijacking. He was also known for his alliance with renowned gang leader Jimmy Chérizier, also known as Barbecue, who formed the powerful gang group called the “G9 Family and Allies” alliance.

Chérizier’s media interviews had to be approved by Andrice, highlighting the latter’s influence within the gang hierarchy. In an attempt to win over the community, Andrice established the Siloé Foundation in 2015, a social foundation that aimed to present a positive image of himself.

Andrice and other gang leaders were accused of orchestrating deadly raids on Haitian neighborhoods, targeting innocent civilians. The nonprofit National Human Rights Defense Network in Haiti documented these incidents. They were also implicated in paralyzing operations at a major fuel terminal in Port-au-Prince last year, which led to the Haitian Prime Minister Ariel Henry requesting urgent deployment of a foreign armed force.

The death of Andrice leaves a power vacuum in the Belekou community, raising concerns about the potential escalation of gang violence in the area. The situation in Haiti remains tense as the country grapples with widespread insecurity and political instability.
