NUTLEY, NJ — In a recent development, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the apprehension of Omar Rios, a resident of Nutley, NJ, on several drug-related charges, including money laundering. The arrest, which took place on November 9, 2023, was the result of an extensive investigation conducted by Chief Jason Love of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.

The dedicated efforts of the Narcotic Task Force detectives led them to execute a search warrant at Rios’s residence, located at 510 Franklin Avenue, Apartment 15, in Nutley, NJ. During the search, law enforcement officials uncovered a significant amount of evidence, including over 800 grams of cocaine, approximately $58,070 in cash suspected to be proceeds from drug sales, cutting agents, packaging materials, and even a hydraulic press used for compressing cocaine.

Further investigations conducted by the authorities uncovered additional stash locations used by Rios. These locations included 94 Bloomfield Avenue in Nutley and a detached garage situated at 45 Watchung Avenue in Belleville, NJ. During the search of these premises, an astonishing $273,920 in suspected drug sale proceeds was discovered, further solidifying the case against Rios.

Of particular interest was the Belleville garage, which not only housed the illicit funds but also concealed a collection of ten vintage exotic cars. Law enforcement officials believe that these luxury vehicles were purchased using profits derived from Rios’s drug sales, leading to suspicions of a high-value money laundering operation.

As a result of these damning discoveries, Omar Rios now faces a series of serious charges. These charges include first-degree possession with intent to distribute cocaine, first-degree maintaining or operating a controlled dangerous substance production facility, and second-degree money laundering. Following his arrest, Rios was promptly remanded to the Bergen County Jail, awaiting further legal proceedings.
