Provincial police have identified the victim involved in a tragic pedestrian collision that occurred on Saturday night on Bayfield Street, just outside the Barrie city limits. The victim has been identified as a 74-year-old resident of Tay Township.

The incident took place in Springwater Township around 11:15 p.m. on November 11. According to Huronia West OPP, the collision involved a vehicle and a pedestrian and occurred in the northbound lanes near 1013 Bayfield St.

Tragically, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene, and no further details about their identity have been released at this time.

Following the collision, Bayfield Street was closed between Carson Road and Snow Valley Road for several hours as OPP technical collision investigators and reconstructionists examined the scene to gather crucial evidence.
