Manhunt Underway for Suspect Accused of Shooting Victim in Buttocks in Stinesville

STINESVILLE, Ind. — Authorities in Bloomington are currently searching for a man who allegedly shot his neighbor in the buttocks following a confrontation in Stinesville. The incident, which took place in the early hours of November 3, has left the victim injured and the suspect at large.

Gunshot Wound Reported at IU Health Bloomington Hospital

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office received a distress call from the IU Health Bloomington Police Department after a man arrived at the hospital with a gunshot wound. The victim, accompanied by a witness who had driven him to the hospital, recounted the events leading up to the shooting.

Altercation between Victim and Suspect

According to the victim and the witness, they were at the victim’s property in Stinesville, gathering some belongings when the suspect, a known neighbor, appeared on the scene. The victim noticed the suspect pulling out a gun and placing it in his pocket, which escalated the situation.

Pepper Spray Fails to Deter Attacker

Feeling threatened, the victim reached for his pepper spray in an attempt to defend himself. Unfortunately, his efforts were in vain as the pepper spray failed to incapacitate the suspect. Realizing the danger, the victim decided to flee the scene.

Shot in the Buttocks

As the victim ran away, he heard a gunshot, followed by a searing pain in his buttocks. The suspect had managed to retrieve his gun and fired at the victim, striking him in the rear end. The victim’s injuries prompted immediate medical attention.

Police Urging Caution and Assistance in Locating the Suspect

Despite ongoing efforts, law enforcement has been unable to locate the suspect, identified as 64-year-old Bret Sherrow.
