Police – Accident – Death – Obituary News : Selbyville Man Arrested for Attempting to Run Over Construction Workers After Seeing Them Talking to His Ex-Wife in Frankford

FRANKFORD, Del. – A horrifying incident unfolded in Frankford when a Selbyville man allegedly tried to run over three construction workers with his work van after seeing them talking to his ex-wife. The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Moises Espinoza-Saldivar, has been arrested on felony charges.

According to the Delaware State Police Department, the incident occurred on Saturday, November 11, at approximately 9:44 a.m. Troopers received a distress call reporting that a man had been struck by a white work van at a home located on the 35300 block of Cape Lane.

Upon arriving at the scene, law enforcement officers swiftly took Espinoza-Saldivar into custody. As the investigation unfolded, troopers discovered that the suspect had confronted his ex-wife after spotting her engaged in conversation with the construction workers outside her residence.

Witnesses stated that during the argument, Espinoza-Saldivar aggressively knocked a drink out of his ex-wife’s hands before retreating to his van. Ignoring all reason and safety, he then accelerated towards the three construction workers, who were standing near the deck. In a desperate attempt to avoid being hit, the workers leaped out of the van’s path. Unfortunately, one of the men was struck by the vehicle and pinned against the deck.

Emergency services were alerted, and the injured man, aged 44, was swiftly airlifted by Trooper 2 to a nearby trauma hospital due to the seriousness of his injuries. Fortunately, no other individuals sustained any harm during the incident.

The terrifying event unfolded in front of two children who were present on the deck at the time. Additionally, two more children rushed outside upon hearing the commotion. The emotional distress and potential trauma experienced by the children cannot be understated.

While taking Espinoza-Saldivar into custody, police officers detected signs of impairment and noticed the smell of alcohol emanating from his breath. Further evidence supporting this suspicion was discovered when troopers found a small bottle of whiskey in Espinoza-Saldivar’s jacket pocket during a search.

As a result of his actions, Espinoza-Saldivar has been charged with multiple offenses, including Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony (Felony), Reckless Endangering First Degree (Felony) – four counts, Vehicular Assault Second Degree, Endangering the Welfare of a Child – three counts, Driving a Vehicle Under the Influence, Driving While Revoked, and Offensive Touching. He was arraigned and is currently being held at the Sussex Correctional Institution on a cash bond of $88,300.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers that can arise from acts of aggression and impaired judgment.
