36-year-old Wesley Huff Arrested for Burglary and Aggravated Assault in Corpus Christi Home Invasion

Accident – Death – Obituary News : CORPUS CHRISTI, TX — A 36-year-old man, Wesley Huff, has been apprehended and is now behind bars after allegedly breaking into a home in the Annaville area on Sunday evening. The Corpus Christi Police Department received a call reporting a burglary at around 6:14 p.m. on November 12.

Responding promptly, officers were dispatched to the address of 4000 River Walk Dr. after receiving information about an open door at a residence. Antonio Contreras, the Public Information Senior Officer of the CCPD, stated that the officers were informed that no one should have been present at the location.

Upon their arrival, the officers noticed that the front door was closed. However, they also observed an open side fence gate and decided to conduct a thorough check around the premises. It was during this inspection that they stumbled upon a broken window on the side of the house, and to their surprise, they spotted a male individual roaming inside.

As the police officers surrounded the property, they suddenly heard gunshots coming from within the house. Taking immediate action, the officers established a perimeter and prepared for the potentially dangerous situation. Moments later, a male suspect unexpectedly opened the garage door and exited the house without any weapons in his possession.

Officer Contreras explained that the suspect became aware of the officers’ presence in front of the house, who then instructed him to get on the ground. The suspect complied with their commands and was subsequently taken into custody.

Following the arrest, the police officers conducted a thorough search of the property to ensure there were no further victims or accomplices inside. Fortunately, no one else was found within the residence.

During the course of the investigation, the CCPD officers also spoke with a neighbor who had been struck by stray shrapnel from the gunshots. Thankfully, the injuries sustained by the neighbor were deemed non-life-threatening, and they received immediate on-site medical attention.

The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Wesley Huff, was found inside the house and taken into custody. He now faces several charges, including Deadly Conduct-Discharge Firearm (Aggravated Assault), Burglary of a Habitation, and Violation of a Court Order. Following his arrest, Huff was transported to the City Detention Center for further processing.
