Haskell is the son of Sam Haskell III, who resigned as CEO of the Miss America organization following a 2017 email scandal. Sam Haskell III, a former celebrity agent, is also known for founding Magnolia Hill Productions, which has produced various Dolly Parton specials.

The younger Haskell is scheduled to be arraigned Monday afternoon, although charges have not yet been filed, according to the district attorney’s office.

Meanwhile, his wife, Mei Li Haskell, and her parents, Yanxiang Wang, 64, and Gaoshan Li, 71, remain missing.

Audio Recordings Provide New Clues in the Investigation

Days after Haskell’s arrest, audio recordings obtained last week may shed new light on the case.

The recordings reveal that the night before the torso was found, officers were dispatched to the Haskells’ home in response to reports of a possible body. In the audio, a dispatcher mentions that the person reporting the crime was waiting outside the LAPD Topanga Station.

“The radio call on Nov. 7 at about 5:30 p.m. involved a suspicious bag that possibly contained human remains. When the officers responded, nothing was located,” said LAPD Detective Efren Gutierrez during a news conference last week.

The LAPD has not confirmed the identity of the person who made the initial call, but they did find evidence of blood inside the home when they returned on Wednesday.

The suspect’s mother declined to comment on the allegations her son is facing.
