28-Year-Old Justin Moser Accused of Causing Death in Racine Hit-and-Run

Accident – Death – Obituary News : RACINE, Wis. – A 28-year-old man from Racine is facing charges after allegedly causing the death of another man in a hit-and-run incident on Thursday evening, Nov. 9. The accused, identified as Justin Moser, is now facing criminal counts of hit-and-run resulting in death and knowingly operating a motor vehicle while suspended, resulting in death.

According to the criminal complaint, the Racine police received a call about a hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian at the intersection of 8th and Main Street around 8 p.m. on Thursday. The victim was quickly located and taken to the hospital, but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

During the investigation, an officer discovered a piece of the vehicle near the scene, which was later identified as belonging to a 2006-2009 Jeep Commander. This crucial piece of evidence allowed the authorities to narrow down their search for the suspect.

A witness at the scene informed the police that they saw the vehicle traveling southbound on Main Street at a high speed, estimated to be around 50 mph. The witness stated that they heard a loud noise and observed the vehicle abruptly swerving multiple times before continuing its southbound trajectory. Moments later, the witness discovered the victim lying on the ground.

Thanks to surveillance cameras in the area, the police managed to obtain a potential license plate number for the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run incident.

In the early hours of the following morning, law enforcement officers spotted a Jeep Commander parked in the driveway of a residence near the address registered to the defendant. The SUV was partially covered with a tarp, and upon closer inspection, officers noticed damage to the front passenger side and what appeared to be blood on the vehicle.

Justin Moser made his initial appearance in Racine County court on Monday, Nov. 13. The court set his cash bond at $25,000.

The tragic incident has left the community in shock, as hit-and-run accidents continue to be a concern. Authorities are urging drivers to be responsible and remain at the scene in the event of an accident to ensure the safety and well-being of all parties involved.
