Teenager Arrested in Connection with Fatal Shooting in Speedway

Speedway, Ind. (WISH) — In a tragic incident, a 17-year-old named Caiden Clements lost his life due to a gunshot wound in Speedway, Indiana. The authorities have taken a 19-year-old man, Benjamin Mulkey, into custody for his alleged involvement in the shooting.

The Marion County Coroner’s Office confirmed the identity of the deceased as Caiden Clements. The incident occurred at approximately 2:11 a.m. on Sunday, prompting the Speedway Police Department to dispatch officers to the 5000 block of West 22nd Street. The shooting took place in a residential neighborhood situated just west of IMS, near 16th Street and Lynhurst Drive.

Upon arrival at the scene, law enforcement discovered Caiden Clements suffering from a gunshot wound. Tragically, despite their immediate medical attention, Clements was pronounced dead at the location of the incident.

Following a thorough investigation, the police identified Benjamin Mulkey as the primary suspect. Mulkey resides at the residence where the shooting took place, leading to his apprehension by the authorities. At present, he is being held at the Marion County jail, awaiting the review of formal charges by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office.
