Bengaluru: In a horrifying turn of events, an 18-year-old teenager lost his life after being fatally stabbed by a group of individuals following an altercation that occurred during a photoshoot at a popular ‘dhaba’ near Doddaballapura in Bengaluru Rural District. The incident, which took place on the auspicious occasion of Diwali, has sent shockwaves through the community. The local police are currently investigating the matter, as reported by PTI.

The tragic incident unfolded when Surya, accompanied by three of his friends, was enjoying a leisurely photoshoot at the entrance of the ‘dhaba,’ where an artistic wall adorned with captivating paintings served as a backdrop to attract customers. It is a common practice for people to visit this location for memorable photoshoots.

However, the peaceful atmosphere was disturbed when another group, who had just finished their lunch at the ‘dhaba,’ approached Surya and his friends with a request to capture their photographs as well. Initially hesitant, the group eventually agreed to fulfill their request, as recounted by a senior police officer.

Following the completion of the photoshoot, the other group demanded that Surya and his friends immediately transfer the images to one of their WhatsApp numbers. However, Surya explained that the pictures could not be directly sent to mobile phones due to their origin from a camera. They would need to be downloaded and transferred to a computer system first.

Despite the explanation, the other group persisted in their demand for immediate transfer of the photographs. This led to a heated argument between the two groups, during which one of the accused individuals, identified as Dileep, brandished a sharp-edged weapon and ruthlessly stabbed Surya in the chest. Overwhelmed by the severity of the attack, Surya collapsed on the spot, and his friends rushed him to a nearby hospital. Tragically, he succumbed to his stab wounds.

Having committed the crime, the accused group swiftly fled the scene on their motorcycles, leaving behind a shocked and grief-stricken group of friends. The incident has sparked outrage and concern among local residents.

“A case of murder has been registered in connection with the incident. Statements from the victim’s friends have already been recorded. We have successfully identified two out of the five individuals involved in the incident, and every effort is being made to identify and apprehend the remaining culprits,” stated Superintendent of Police (Bengaluru Rural district), Mallikarjun Baldani.
