Authorities are currently conducting an investigation into a horrifying hostage incident that took place in Austin, Texas on Saturday. The incident resulted in the death of two victims, as well as one SWAT officer. The suspect, who was armed, was also fatally shot by the police during a shootout. According to Austin’s interim chief of police, Robin Henderson, the Austin Police Department received reports of a stabbing at approximately 2:50 a.m. on Saturday. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered two injured victims inside a residence, along with the suspect. It was later revealed that a third victim had managed to escape the house and was found in the neighborhood. She was immediately taken to the hospital for medical attention.

The victim informed the authorities that the suspect was allegedly armed with a knife. With this crucial information, officers decided to forcefully enter the home at 3 a.m. However, they were met with gunfire, forcing them to retreat. Realizing the seriousness of the situation, the Austin Police SWAT Team was called to the scene to handle the barricaded suspect, who was still inside the residence with two hostages.

At 4:11 a.m., SWAT officers bravely entered the home and engaged in a fierce shootout after the suspect opened fire on them. During the intense exchange of gunfire, the suspect was fatally shot by the SWAT team. Tragically, two SWAT officers were struck by bullets, resulting in the death of one officer. The other officer is currently in stable condition.

Heartbreakingly, the two hostages inside the residence were pronounced dead at the scene, as confirmed by the authorities. The deceased SWAT officer has been identified as Senior Police Officer Jorge Pastore.

In a statement shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, Chief Henderson expressed her deep sorrow and called on the community to honor the brave actions of Senior Police Officer Jorge Pastore. She wrote, “My heart is heavy today. Please help me and our APD family pay tribute to SPO Jorge Pastore for his brave & heroic actions. Sir, we’ll take it from here.” Chief Henderson also extended her gratitude for the support and requested prayers for the Pastore family and the injured officer.
