Thompson, who has been in custody at the Lubbock County Detention Center since his arrest on October 12th, is now facing two counts of affecting commerce by robbery and a count of aggravated credit union robbery. The robberies in question took place at the Ashmore Inn in Lubbock on September 10th, the Access Community Credit Union in Amarillo on September 29th, and a Family Dollar store in Lubbock on October 11th.

Initially, Thompson was arrested in connection with the Family Dollar store robbery, which occurred in the 1500 block of 82nd Street. According to a Lubbock police report, employees stated that a man claiming to be from Lubbock Health and Safety approached the manager and provided her with laminated papers. The manager then led him to a different area of the store, where the suspect revealed a black pistol from his waistband and threatened her.

The manager reported that the suspect warned her against involving the children in the store, stating that she wouldn’t want their “blood on her building.” The suspect demanded money from the safe, but when the manager informed him that she couldn’t access it, she offered cash from the registers instead, which the suspect accepted. Before leaving, he instructed her to wait until the children had left the store.

In addition to the Family Dollar store robbery, Thompson is also charged with two other robberies that occurred in September. In these incidents, the suspect dressed as a security officer and threatened employees with a firearm while demanding money. However, it remains unclear how Thompson was identified as the perpetrator in those cases.

The first robbery took place on September 10th at the Ashmore Inn in the 400 block of South Loop 289. The suspect, wearing a gray/blue shirt, dark pants, a dark hat, a medical-style face mask, and a wig with blonde hair, entered the hotel lobby and pointed a pistol at the front desk employee, demanding money.

Approximately two weeks later, on September 29th, Amarillo police responded to a robbery report at the Access Community Credit Union in the 6400 block of Bell Street. The suspect, dressed identically to the Ashmore Inn robber, brandished a firearm and instructed a teller to hand over money. Authorities obtained video footage from the bank’s security camera, which showed the suspect fleeing the scene in a white Toyota passenger car.

During their investigation, detectives discovered the weapon used in the Amarillo robbery near the intersection of Farmer’s Avenue and Star Lane. Court records indicate that the pistol appeared to be a replica.

On October 31st, a Lubbock County Grand Jury returned an indictment against Thompson, charging him with robbery in connection with the Family Dollar store incident.

The case is ongoing, and authorities continue to investigate any potential links between Thompson and other unsolved robberies in the area..
