The Kay County Sheriff’s Department has released a series of reports detailing various incidents that occurred in the region from November 9th to November 11th. These incidents range from traffic stops to stolen vehicles, warrant confirmations, and even an Amber Alert. Law enforcement officers from multiple departments were involved in the response and resolution of these cases.

November 9th

At 1:50 a.m.

A deputy conducted a routine traffic stop on Highway 177 and Oakland Road resulting in the issuance of a citation for driving on a suspended license to Derek Jackson. Jackson was given a 10-day notice to appear in court. As his vehicle had to be towed, he was dropped off at his residence in Ponca City.

At 2:59 p.m.

The Kay County Sheriff’s Office (KSO) was notified that Curtis McClendon was in custody in Grady County. Further details about his arrest were not provided.

At 9:27 p.m.

The Ponca City Police Department (PCPD) confirmed the existence of warrants for Robert Wilson.

At 10:15 p.m.

Warrants on Justin Kindle were confirmed by Tulsa County authorities.

November 10th

At 5:58 a.m.

An officer from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol (OHP) arrested Isaiah Fish on Highway 11 west of Ranch Drive. A deputy was requested to transport Fish to the county jail, allowing the OHP officer to return to the city.

At 7:04 a.m.

The Newkirk Police Department reported a gray 2006 Chevy Malibu stolen from the Jiffy Trip gas station. The owner stated that she left the car unattended while paying for gas, only to find it missing upon her return. Richard Clark was identified as the suspect, allegedly accompanied by a large white dog. Cowley County was notified, and efforts were made to track the stolen vehicle using the owner’s phone. At 3:33 p.m., El Dorado, Kan. police informed authorities that they had located both the suspect and the stolen vehicle.

At 10:59 a.m.

Bruce Yates had warrants confirmed by the Bixby Police Department.

At 11:41 a.m.

KSO received a report of a possible homeless camp located under the Blackwell Main Bridge. Deputies responded to the scene and discovered one tent on the south end, along with an excessive amount of trash.

At 4:15 p.m.

A concerned caller reported that a woman had jumped out of a moving vehicle near Ranch Drive and north of Highway 60. Deputies conducted a search but were unable to locate the woman or the vehicle.

At 6:47 p.m.

Tulsa County authorities confirmed the existence of warrants for Patrick Patterson.

At 9:15 p.m.

The Tonkawa Police Department confirmed warrants on William Hogan.

November 11th

At 1:16 a.m.

A deputy initiated a traffic stop near Sonic in Blackwell and reported that another vehicle began shooting at the vehicle involved in the initial stop. Blackwell police were immediately notified. Investigation revealed the presence of five shell casings in the vicinity of O Street and Furgeson, west of the Bridge. The deputy continued to East Acre Road at 2:20 a.m., the 900 block of west McKinley in Blackwell at 2:34 a.m., and Taco Bell in Tonkawa at 2:58 a.m. No damage to the involved vehicle was found. Authorities then proceeded to the 6000 block of North Waverly for further investigation. At 3:34 a.m., a deputy and a Ponca City police officer visited Paradise Apartments in Ponca City to follow up on the incident.

At 2:28 a.m.

A Kay County deputy met with a Noble County deputy at the county line to collect inmate Charles Garner for transportation to the county jail.

At 7:46 a.m.

A resident in the 1600 block of East Fountain Road reported that a stray bullet had penetrated a wall of their home. A deputy interviewed neighbors across the street, who admitted to engaging in target shooting.

At 9:33 a.m.

KSO received a report about a herd of goats walking north on Pleasantview from Fountain Road. The owner of the goats was promptly contacted.

At 12:14 p.m.

PCPD confirmed warrants on Jeremy Vaughn.

At 1 p.m.

KSO received a report stating that a pickup truck involved in an Amber Alert, previously issued by the Pottawatomie County Amber Alert, had been spotted heading northbound on Highway 77 near the casinos. An extensive search was conducted, and Cowley County was notified. The vehicle was eventually discovered in Norman.

At 3:15 p.m.

PCPD confirmed warrants for Dakota Hicks.

At 5:40 p.m.

KSO received a report of a female who had been involved in a domestic dispute and was walking south on Highway 77. At 5:50 p.m., a deputy located the female, and the Newkirk ambulance was dispatched to the scene. The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Isaac Russell Weeden, was believed to be in a field between Brake and Canteen roads. Extra patrols were requested for a residence in the 500 block of South 9th Street in Ponca City. At 7:37 p.m., an OHP trooper detained Weeden at Highway 77 and Tower Road. Weeden was subsequently arrested and transported to the county jail. The female victim received medical treatment at Integris Medical Center in Ponca City.

At 6:27 p.m.

The Blackwell Police Department confirmed warrants for Kelsey Casey.

At 7:13 p.m.

The Tonkawa Police Department confirmed warrants for Emma Click.

At 11:34 p.m.

A deputy ran a check on a vehicle located at 5th and Hartford, which was found to have a bullet hole in it. Further investigation is underway.
