Saluda County Coroner’s Office Confirms Fatal Incident

A devastating fire in Saluda County claimed the life of 72-year-old Leesville resident, Timothy Bruce Smith, according to the Saluda County Coroner’s Office. The incident occurred early Thursday morning, when first responders, including the Saluda County Fire Service and Saluda County EMS, discovered Smith inside the burning structure located in the Circle area, off Columbia Highway/U.S. 378. The building served as both Smith’s residence and business.

Victim Succumbs to Injuries at Prisma Health Richland

Following the rescue, Smith was immediately airlifted to Prisma Health Richland in Columbia for critical care. Tragically, despite the medical team’s best efforts, Smith’s injuries proved fatal, and he passed away that afternoon. The Saluda County Coroner’s Office has not released the specific cause of death.
