The officers were then informed that two more victims, along with the suspect who was armed with a knife, were still inside the residence. Acting swiftly, the officers attempted to make an emergency entry into the house to rescue the remaining victims, as Chief Henderson explained.

However, as soon as they identified themselves as law enforcement and entered the residence, the suspect opened fire at them. Faced with a life-threatening situation, the officers had no choice but to retreat without returning fire, Chief Henderson confirmed.

Recognizing the severity of the situation, SWAT was called to the scene due to the suspect being barricaded inside the residence with two hostages, Chief Henderson revealed.

The SWAT team arrived shortly after 4 a.m. and made a second attempt to enter the residence in order to rescue the hostages.
