Person of Interest Sought in Fatal Stabbing Incident in Independence

Independence police are actively searching for a person of interest linked to a fatal stabbing that claimed the life of an individual on Saturday evening. The incident occurred in the vicinity of Truman Road and Hardy Avenue, prompting a swift response from law enforcement agencies.

At approximately 4:25 p.m., emergency services were alerted when the male victim, whose age remains undisclosed, was transported to Independence Fire Station 3 for urgent medical treatment. Despite the immediate aid rendered by the fire department personnel, the victim succumbed to his injuries.

Officer Jack Taylor, spokesperson for the Independence Police Department, revealed that the investigation revealed the stabbing incident took place in close proximity to the intersection of Truman Road and Hardy Avenue.

Authorities have identified Anthony J. Durkin, aged 34, as a person of interest in connection with this homicide case. Durkin is described as approximately 5 feet and 10 inches tall, weighing around 155 pounds. He possesses distinguishing features such as brown hair, brown eyes, and a tattoo on the right side of his neck, displaying the word “RESPETO.” Furthermore, Durkin has a Scooby Doo tattoo visible on his right arm. Investigators believe he frequents the area near 23 Highway and Sterling Avenue.
