COLONIE, NY (WRGB) — Authorities in Colonie are currently conducting an investigation into a tragic incident that occurred on Saturday night, resulting in the loss of a pedestrian’s life. The local police department is urging the public to come forward with any information that may help identify the victim.

The fatal crash took place at approximately 11:55 PM on Saturday. According to the initial reports, a 2023 Ford F-150 was traveling westbound on Central Avenue when it collided with a pedestrian at the intersection with Fuller Road. The driver, identified as Theodore Gourdine, a 48-year-old resident of Albany, immediately brought the vehicle to a halt. Gourdine and his passengers exited the vehicle to check on the injured pedestrian, while passers-by promptly contacted the Colonie Police through the emergency services hotline (9-1-1). Colonie EMS responded swiftly to the scene, but unfortunately, the pedestrian succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead on-site.

Preliminary investigations conducted by the authorities suggest that neither excessive speed nor driver impairment played a role in the tragic incident. It has been determined that the pedestrian was crossing the vehicle travel lane and not utilizing the designated crosswalk at the time of the collision. As of now, the police have been unable to identify the pedestrian as they had no form of identification on their person.

The pedestrian is described as a Caucasian male, potentially in his late thirties to early forties. They had a crewcut hairstyle and were wearing a distinctive red and black plaid coat, camouflage multi-pocket pants, white socks, and tan work boots.
