Tragic Accident Near M.M. Hills Claims One Life and Injures 10 Others

Mysore/Mysuru: A devastating incident occurred yesterday on the Mysuru-T. Narasipur Main Road (NH-766), near Meghalapura, when a goods vehicle carrying 11 friends on their way to Male Mahadeshwara Hills (M.M. Hills) veered off the road, collided with the retaining wall of a bridge, and plunged into the abyss. The accident resulted in the loss of one life and severe injuries to 10 others.

The deceased has been identified as 18-year-old Darshan, son of Huchaiah from Bandipalya. The injured include 23-year-old Sunil, 20-year-old Sudeep, 17-year-old Nithin, 19-year-old Darshan, brothers 17-year-old Vijay and 19-year-old Vikas, 23-year-old Ravichandran, 25-year-old Pavan, and 19-year-old Shashank, all residents of Bandipalya in Mysuru, as well as 19-year-old Nithin from Hosahundi.

The group of 11 friends embarked on their journey from Bandipalya to M.M. Hills in a goods vehicle with the registration number KA-55-A-2792, which was purchased by Pavan. United by their friendship, the group had planned to visit M.M. Hills for a religious ceremony.

Tragedy struck when the vehicle approached a bridge near Meghalapura. The driver lost control, causing the vehicle to swerve to the left, collide with the retaining wall, and plummet from the bridge. Fortunately, passersby who witnessed the accident rushed to the scene, risking their own safety to rescue those trapped inside the vehicle.

Upon reaching the accident site, the Meghalapura Police immediately called for an ambulance and arranged for the injured to be transported to private hospitals in Mysuru. Sadly, Darshan succumbed to his injuries. As of now, four of the remaining 10 injured individuals are reported to be in critical condition.

This morning, Darshan’s body underwent a post-mortem examination at the MMC&RI mortuary before being handed over to his grieving family members. The Meghalapura Police have registered a case and are currently conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
