Martyrdom of Police Officer and Death of Dacoits Unfold in Dera Ghazi Khan Confrontations

Accident – Death – Obituary News : Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur, two cities in Pakistan, were rocked by a series of confrontations that lasted for 24 hours. These encounters resulted in the martyrdom of a police officer, injuries to six police personnel, and the death of three dacoits.

The operations were overseen by DPOs Khawar Dastgir and Ahmed Mehdi, who provided details of the incidents. The first clash occurred in the Indus Highways area, where a police encounter took place. During the exchange of gunfire, a police officer was martyred by dacoits associated with the notorious Ladi gang. One dacoit was killed, and two police officers and a suspect sustained injuries during the encounter.

In another incident, unidentified suspects opened fire in the Shadan Lund area of Dera Ghazi Khan, resulting in the death of Sub-Inspector Rizwan Mahboob. ASI Iqbal, Head Constable Tahir Saeed, and Constable Mazhar also sustained severe injuries. Dera Ghazi Khan Division Commissioner Dr Nasir Mahmood Bashir visited the injured police personnel at Allama Iqbal Teaching Hospital and expressed his condolences.

Upon receiving information about the incidents, DPO Ahmed Mehdi, along with other police officers and rescue personnel, reached the scenes. The injured officials were immediately transported to the hospital for medical treatment. However, as the areas were cordoned off for search operations, the dacoits resumed firing after a brief lull.

During the hours-long confrontation between the police and dacoits, Abdullah Jiyani, a notorious criminal involved in multiple cases of terrorism, robberies, and other criminal activities, was killed. DPO Ahmed Mehdi emphasized the high morale of the police force and assured the public that the police would continue their efforts to maintain law and order in the region.

IGP Dr Osman Anwar paid tribute to Sub-Inspector Rizwan Mahboob, who sacrificed his life in the line of duty. He vowed to ensure the best possible care for the injured police personnel. Dr Anwar acknowledged the sacrifices made by the brave officers of the Punjab Police, including Sub-Inspector Mahboob.

In a related incident near Paktigiani, a search operation led to the arrest of a murder suspect named Yaqoob. However, as the police were heading to apprehend another suspect, unidentified criminals on motorcycles opened fire on the police van, injuring two police constables.

In yet another encounter, this time in Rajanpur Katcha area, a fierce gun battle erupted between the police and dacoits. Two highly-wanted dacoits were killed in the exchange of fire, while several police officers sustained injuries.

These incidents highlight the dangers faced by law enforcement personnel in their quest to maintain peace and order in the region. The Punjab Police, with over 1600 courageous martyrs, including Sub-Inspector Rizwan Mahboob, remains committed to its duty of protecting the public.

The authorities have launched investigations into these incidents to bring the culprits to justice and ensure the safety of the citizens. The Punjab Police will continue their efforts to combat crime and maintain law and order in Dera Ghazi Khan and Rajanpur.
