Accident – Death – Obituary News : Man Survives After Jumping Off Meralco Avenue Flyover in Quezon City

MANILA, Philippines — The man who went viral after jumping off the railing of Meralco Avenue Flyover in Quezon City, survived, local authorities said on Sunday.

The incident occurred at 5:22 p.m. on Saturday and the person involved was identified as 26-year-old John Mark Santos Aquino, a resident of Purok Uno, Barangay Rizal, Naguilian, Isabela, according to the Quezon City Police Department (QCPD).

Aquino, an overseas Filipino worker and security guard, hit a motorcycle upon landing along Ortigas Avenue Flyover, causing damage to the vehicle while its driver and passenger fell to the ground.

He sustained multiple injuries to different parts of his body and was immediately brought to Victor R. Potenciano Medical Center by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority Medical responding team.

Aquino was later transferred to Mandaluyong City Medical Center at around 6:30 p.m. for further medical treatment, as stated by QCPD.

Authorities decided to transfer Aquino to the National Center for Mental Health in Mandaluyong City one hour later for a mental evaluation.

Meanwhile, the owner of the vehicle that Aquino landed on decided to take responsibility for the repair of his motorcycle and will not file a criminal complaint against Aquino.
