Man Arrested for Fatally Ramming SUV into Resort in Goa
Panaji, November 12, 2023 (PTI) – A man was apprehended on Sunday after allegedly crashing his recklessly-driven sports utility vehicle (SUV) into the reception area of a popular resort in Vagator, located in the scenic north Goa region. The tragic incident resulted in the untimely demise of the resort’s 57-year-old owner, Remedia Mary Albuquerque. Additional reports indicate that two individuals, identified as Shiv Mangal Dindo (22) and Rupa Paras (31), sustained injuries during the incident, while the accused has been identified as Sachin Kurup, a resident of Kondhwa in Pune city, Maharashtra.

The incident occurred on Saturday night, when Sachin Kurup, fully aware of his reckless driving, careened his SUV, bearing a Haryana registration number, into the reception area of the resort. Remedia Mary Albuquerque, who was standing in close proximity to the reception area, tragically lost her life on the spot.
Deputy Superintendent of Police, Jivba Dalvi, shed light on the details of the incident, stating, “The accused, Kurup, had visited the resort to meet a friend. Unfortunately, he chose to drive his vehicle in a reckless manner, resulting in the fatal accident. The Anjuna police are currently investigating the matter further.”
