The Tucson Fire Department promptly responded to a distress call regarding a single-vehicle collision involving a 1990 Chrysler Lebaron. Sadly, the driver, identified as 19-year-old Antonio Salvatore Cimino, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Initial findings from the investigation reveal that Cimino was traveling eastbound on Golf Links Road at an excessive speed. While maneuvering in the middle lane, he made an abrupt lane change to avoid colliding with another vehicle. However, this sudden change caused him to lose control of the vehicle, resulting in a collision with the raised center median and ultimately crashing into a tree.

The investigation indicates that excessive speed and a failure to maintain control of the vehicle were contributing factors in this tragic accident. Additionally, Cimino was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the incident.

The Tucson Police Department continues to actively investigate this case to gather further evidence and determine the full circumstances surrounding the crash.
