High-Speed Chase Ends in Fatal Crash in Winston-Salem, North Carolina

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – A high-speed chase between law enforcement officials and a Pontiac vehicle ended tragically on Wednesday morning, resulting in a fatal crash, as reported by the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

At approximately 9:26 a.m. on Wednesday, a state trooper initiated a traffic stop on a Pontiac vehicle, suspecting the presence of “fictitious license plates.” However, the driver of the Pontiac refused to comply with the officer’s instructions, accelerating away and prompting a pursuit.

The chase ensued through the streets of Winston-Salem, with the Pontiac driver showing no signs of stopping. The pursuit continued until the fateful moment at the intersection of Cole Road and Utah Drive, when the driver lost control of the vehicle, struck a curb, and crashed into a nearby residence, according to state police officials. Despite immediate life-saving efforts by Forsyth County EMS, the driver, identified as Brandon Dewayne Walker from Lexington, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fortunately, there was a passenger in the Pontiac who survived the crash. The passenger sustained serious injuries but was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Thankfully, these injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

State police have confirmed that no one was inside the house at the time of the accident, and no other individuals sustained injuries apart from those in the Pontiac. The crash caused significant damage to the residence, leaving it uninhabitable until repairs can be made.

Law enforcement officials are still investigating the incident to determine the factors that led to the high-speed chase and subsequent crash. At this time, no further information has been made available to the public.
