The heartbroken family of Shanquella Robinson, a 25-year-old woman from North Carolina who was tragically killed while on vacation in Mexico, is preparing to sue the six friends who were traveling with her. Robinson traveled from Charlotte to San Jose Cabo on October 28, 2022, to celebrate a friend’s birthday. She rented out a villa for the occasion. However, her trip took a devastating turn when she was found injured and unresponsive, dying the following day.

Initially, Robinson’s friends informed her mother that she had died of alcohol poisoning. However, further investigation revealed that Robinson had a severed spine and broken neck. Disturbing video footage later emerged showing her being beaten up at the villa. A year after the incident, there are still many unanswered questions surrounding her death, with no one formally arrested or charged. The FBI has also refused to release her files, despite the existence of video evidence showing her being assaulted.

The family’s attorney, Sue-Ann Robinson, plans to launch legal action against the individuals who were on vacation with Shanquella. It is alleged that these individuals “lied by omission” by failing to disclose that she had been beaten up before her death. Daejhanae Jackson, 27, has been named as the friend seen throwing punches at Shanquella in the hours leading up to her death. Mexican authorities have issued a warrant for Jackson’s arrest on charges of femicide, but no steps have been taken to extradite her to Mexico.

The identities of the “Cabo 6,” the group of friends vacationing with Shanquella, have been revealed after a leaked vacation home check-in list. Daejhanae Jackson was one of the individuals who returned Robinson’s luggage to her mother’s home and falsely claimed that she had died of alcohol poisoning. Jackson is a graduate of Winston-Salem State University, where Robinson also studied.

The Department of Justice announced earlier this year that it would not seek federal prosecution in the case, citing a lack of evidence to prove a federal crime had been committed. However, the FBI’s investigation remains active, and they have refused to release files on Shanquella’s death, citing the potential interference with prospective law enforcement proceedings.

The autopsy conducted in Mexico, which was published before her death certificate, revealed that Robinson died from severe injuries to her spine and neck. Cabo police records indicate that for three hours before her death, Robinson received medical treatment at the villa and had a seizure. However, her friends refused to have her transported to a medical facility, claiming she had consumed too much alcohol.

The lawsuit being prepared by the Robinson family’s attorney aims to hold the friends accountable for their alleged involvement in Shanquella’s death. The family seeks justice for their beloved daughter and hopes that those responsible will be brought to justice.
