Garment Worker Dies in Clash with Police in Gazipur
A tragic incident unfolded in the Jorun area of Konabari, Gazipur, as a clash between workers and police resulted in the death of a readymade garment worker. The worker, identified as Md Jalal Uddin, 40, succumbed to his injuries around midnight on Saturday at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

The shocking incident comes just days after another worker, Anjuara Khatun, 30, was critically injured during a similar clash in the Konabari area of Gazipur. Tragically, she passed away while being transported to DMCH.
Confirming the unfortunate death, DMCH police outpost in-charge, Md Bacchu Mia, expressed his sorrow over the incident. He revealed that the body of Jalal Uddin has been preserved in the morgue, and the local police station has been duly notified.
Jalal Uddin, who held the position of sewing supervisor at Islam Group, resided in the Jorun area with his family. Born to Chan Mia in the Kendua upazila of Netrakona, Jalal had rented a house owned by Fazal Molla in the Jorun area.
The clash between the workers and police erupted on Wednesday morning, leaving behind a trail of devastation and grief. The incident sheds light on the persisting tensions and challenges faced by the readymade garment industry in Bangladesh.
